FAQ

1. Why should I buy a used CMM vs. a new CMM?

CMMs manufactured in the 1980’s and 1990’s are mechanically superior to those CMMs built today.

2. Can I see the CMM measure my part?

All of our used CMMs are ready for customer demonstrations using their own supplied parts. We ask that all part(s) and print(s) be sent to us no less than one week prior to the demonstration date for programming. We’ll gladly provide a complimentary inspection report of your part(s) at the end of our demo. Our demonstration process is limited and shall not exceed inspection of more than (2) customer supplied parts.

3. Does the used CMM come with a warranty?

Yes, all of our used CMMs come with a minimum 12-month warranty unless otherwise specified. All warranty claims (excluding Renishaw Components) are subject to evaluation by our CMM Technicians. All Renishaw component warranty claims are subject to inspection by Renishaw. All Renishaw components subject of warranty claims will be sent back to Renishaw for evaluation.

4. How do I know what CMM software to buy?

We offer several different software packages and use of the Renishaw UCC controller, an open controller compatible with any I++ DME software package. We’ll be happy to discuss your software requirements and recommend the most efficient measurement program suited to your needs.

5. Should I be concerned with the OEM date of manufacture of the CMM?

Unlike most other used CMM dealers, we completely replace all the OEM wiring and linear scales with NEW Renishaw CMM grade equipment. The motors and gear boxes, along with the air bearings are tested and rebuilt. We only recycle the CMM frame and granite.

6. Is a rebuilt “Green” CMM worth the same as a new CMM?

As previously mentioned, older CMMs are mechanically superior to those built today. Why buy a new, less mechanically accurate CMM instead of recycling an existing CMM frame/stage.

7. What if the CMM is obsoleted by the OEM?

All of our CMMs have been remanufactured using OEM Renishaw CMM parts. Renishaw is a prominent name in the CMM industry, guaranteeing all CMM parts are supported or upgradable to current inventory.

8.Is a used CMM as fast as a new CMM?

With the new Renishaw electronics and use of the latest Renishaw XL Laser system equipped with CMM dynamic software, we set the speed to match the rigidity of the CMM. The slow speed root cause was due to slow OEM electronics and NOT the superior frame/stage. Yes, there are some poorly built CMMs out there, however we know them and choose not to rebuild those brands. Bobier Metrology Solutions has been repairing and calibrating CMMs for over 30 years, our experience has led us to selecting only those superior CMMs for remanufacture.

9. What if I need a specific CMM not listed on your website?

If we do not have the exact CMM in stock that you need, we’ll find that exact CMM you are looking for and rebuild custom to your specifications.

10. What are your payment terms?

All used CMMs purchased require a 50% down payment to secure the CMM. In some cases 100% payment prior to delivery may become necessary.
